PEAR Network (Partners for Early Attuned Relationships)
Building competencies of the adults working with young children.
Knowing how to help young children navigate social, emotional or behavioral difficulties is not always clear. PEAR can help.
Is there a child you work with who:
- Is withdrawn?
- Has been sent home due to behaviors or is at risk of removal from the center?
- Has experienced stressful or scary events?
- Interferes with your ability to teach or work effectively?
- Displays behaviors that interfere with individual or group learning?
PEAR Network (Partners for Early Attuned Relationships) is a prevention-based program pairing a highly specialized early childhood mental health consultant with the adults who work with children (ages 0 to 5) to support them as they learn to form secure relationships, manage emotions and explore their environment.
Through an immersive experience, our consultants work hand in hand with all the adults caring for a young child – including early child care providers, teachers, assistant teachers, directors, social workers, technical assistance providers, family members and caregivers, and others. We use FAN and reflective practices to elevate the expertise of these adults to:
- Promote awareness of social and emotional development.
- Prevent mental health crises.
- Manage challenging child behaviors.
By building the capacity and confidence of caregivers and early childhood professionals, they can more effectively support child development.
While PEAR primarily integrates consultation into early care and education programs, we provide a collaborative approach and wrap-around care to support all the adults caring for a young child.
Any early childhood professional or caregiver can request PEAR services. For individual child cases, guardians must consent to services prior to a consultant’s involvement.
To request services, fill out the intake form through Help Me Grow, our centralized access point to local resources across the state. A Help Me Grow Care Coordinator will contact you for more detail.
“By getting all members of the child’s village on the same page, PEAR enabled our center to help a child on the brink of expulsion stay in school. The child’s behavior changed drastically, from disrupting class to following directions and eager to please. It’s a blessing to see how much getting the right support can help a child thrive. ”
